The Missions Committee organized a second trip out to Fraser Valley Gleaners on October 5 as the first outing on May 11 was so well attended. This was a hands-on outing. FVG's Mission is "In the name of Christ, to work with volunteers, collecting produce and processing it for distribution to developing countries." As a registered Canadian charity, FVG is both volunteer-run and donor-driven (Go to their website to see how you can volunteer or make a donation). They receive donated produce which is then chopped, sliced, diced and dried then mixed. They procuce both dried apple slices and "just add water" soup mix for distribution through reputable distributors world-wide where the need is greatest--at no cost to those receiving it.
